About Joseph Josiah (Bud) Hardy:
From Nancy Metteauer: "Joseph “Bud” and Genie were both born in San Augustine, Texas after their
parents came to Texas after the Civil War, the Hardy family coming from Arkansas with the Baldree family,
and the Tinsleys coming from Georgia. Joseph J. and Genie were married on May 11, 1902 by N. W. Ware
in San Augustine County, Texas. They first lived at “The Old Place” in the home built by Joseph J.
Hardy’s father, B.D. Hardy. Joseph J. and Genie Hardy added on to this house. In 1927, they moved
to a loghouse built on Tinsley property. In 1944, they built a new home in front of the loghouse and
lived there for the rest of their lives. Joseph J. and Genie Hardy are buried in the old Liberty Hill
Cemetery in San Augustine, Texas." .......................................................................
