About Thomas C. Lipscomb:
Middle name may be Coleman.
Birth info from 1900 Census.
About Elizabeth (Lizzie) C. Orchard:
Name found in 1850 Census, age 9. All later Census indicate that she was born in 1844, so this age
is in error. No mention of her in 1860 Census. ............................................
Elizabeth
apparently studied music at Columbia Female Institute and played the piano. Under the name "Lizzie
C. Orchard" she wrote and had published a song during the Civil War entitled "Maj. General Hampton's
quickstep", a military style march for piano. General Wade Hampton was a well known Confederate commander
from South Carolina who twice served as governor of the state and as a U.S. Senator after the war. .............................................

These
two children do not belong to Elizabeth, since the 1900 Census says that she and Thomas had been married
for 20 years at that time, implying that they were married in 1879 or 1880. These childen are either
from his previous marriage, or are nieces, etc. .............................................
