"Clarke family bible has "Elihu Williams was married to Elizabeth Wells the 5th
April 1798. (Niece of John Clarke)" Eliz.'s pension app. also says she was Eliz. Wells before her marriage
to Elihu Williams and that they were married April 5th, 1798."

Elihu died in 1840 but his will was not probated until after 1869 and the
probate says wife Elizabeth died in 1864. Elihu's obituary was published in the Edgefield Advertiser,
July 23, 1840. p3. Elihu served in the War of 1812, Youngblood's Regiment SC Militia, Capt. John Miller's
Co., and Elizabeth applied for and received a pension in 1853. ..................................................................
About Elizabeth Wells:
Maiden name and parent's names from Ann Hancy. Other sources including DAR applications give Elizabeth's
name as "Ware" rather than "Wells". There was a John Wells in the 1800 Census, SC, Edgefield Co. .........................................................
