This
is my Uncle Paul Hardy in army uniform, probably near or possibly even after the
end of the war. I say that because
of his insignia, showing the rank of Tech Sergeant , higher than earlier
photos, and also the “hash” mark on his left sleeve, which indicates three years of service. His
shoulder patch indicates the Fourth Air Force.
(For you young people, the air force was part of the army then, not a
separate service like today.) I
believe Paul was a mechanic in the army, and that was his line of work after he
left the service, living in Salinas, California until his death. (2-35) |
