POPE FAMILY CEMETERY
Located on the west bank of Dorcheat Bayou at the Arkansas/Louisiana line. Col 278 E
just south of Col 279 W; 8 miles on oil field road then left 6 miles to fork; stone at top of hill.
There is one large stone marking the location without individual names. Black workers
who came to Arkansas with the Pope people from Columbia, Marion Co. MS are
buried here. Jacob Pope, the father of Dolphin, Calvin and the twin of Harriett
Sophronia Pope are buried in the Pope Cem. in Marion County, MS.
