About Barton Houston Webb:

Barton H. Webb served in Companys G and B, 5th Regiment, Tennessee Mounted Infantry of the Union Army during the Civil War.

5th Regiment Mounted Infantry - Unit Record

Organized at Cleveland, Nashville, Calhoun and Chattanooga, Tenn., September 23, 1864. Attached to District of the Etowah, Dept. of the Cumberland, and garrison duty in that District and at Dalton and Marietta, Ga., until July, 1865. Skirmish at McLemore's Cove, Ga., February 1, 1865. Expedition from Dalton to Coosawattie River and Spring Place, Ga., April 1-4. Mustered out July 17, 1865.

Found in 1870 Census, AR, White Co., Gray TS, p. 348, img. 50. Barton, 22, wife Jane, 21, son Luther, 1. Barton's mother Margaret Webb, 60, sister Mary, 23, and brother Marshall, 18 live next door. Also living two doors down is a H. Cantrell (female, age 40) and three children. This is Harriet, the mother, and siblings of Barton's wife Jane.

Found in 1900 Census, AR, Fulton Co., Fulton Township, img. 15. Barton, 54, wife Willie M., 23, son William M., 26, son Lehman, 6, dau. Raimie, 2(?), son Ernest, 2/12. The three younger children belong to Willie. They show that they have been married for 4 years.

It is believed that Barton died shortly after 1900. His widow Willie Mae and their small children then moved to Oklahoma.
