About Miniard W. Harris:
From Marie Key's book:
"Miniard Harris was the son of David Harris and Rebecca Gilbert Harris.
He married Martha Matilda Holland b. ca. 1841. She was b. in South Carolina. Miniard Harris migrated
to Ga. with his parents, brothers and sisters sometime between 1835 and 1840. He was on the 1840 Census
with his father but soon thereafter he went into Cherokee Co., Ga., where he helped to move the Indians
therefrom. He was a pioneer of that Co. He married there and later made permanent settlement in Murray
Co., Ga. They lived near Springplace on a farm. Springplace at that time was the county seat of Murray
Co. He was called to fill several responsible positions there, among which were the office of Tax Collector
and Treasurer.
Miniard Harris and Martha Matilda Holland Harris reared a large family. Three
girls and eight boys were b. to this union. One of the sons died in infancy. Three of the sons became
Doctors; two were Medical Doctors and one a Dentist, and one son was a Pharmacist. Three sons became
lawyers and one a teacher. Miniard Harris and Martha Matilta Holland Harris were consistent members
of the Baptist Church, and reared their children with a view of making them useful citizens in life." ...............................................................................

About Martha Matilda Holland:
Obituary The Fort Worth Telegram, Thurs., 31 Mar. 1904, p.3 MRS. M. M. HARRIS. The death of Mrs.
M. M. Harris occurred yesterday afternoon about 2 o'clock, at the home of her son, Judge W. D. Harris,
in this city. Mrs. Harris has been in a serious condition since coming here from her home near Dalton,
Ga., a few weeks ago and her death was not unexpected. She was 79 years of age and was born and raised
in Georgia. Early in life she united with the church near her home and remained a member of the one
congregation until the time of her death. Her husband died twenty-three years ago, and she is survived
by her four sons, Judge W. D. Harris, Judge M. B. Harris, Dr. D. H. Harris and Professor George Harris,
all of this city, and Dr. J. F. Harris of Georgia, T. J. Harris of Nashville, Dr. F. H. Harris of Chattanooga
and Mrs. Glass of Georgia. Brief funeral services will be held Friday morning at 6:30, at the residence
of Judge W. D. Harris. The services will be conducted by Rev. J. W. Gallon. The funeral party will start
at 7:45 for Dalton, Ga., where burial will take place.
