Obituary of Emma Hardy Keeling: In Memoriam In the noontide of life, just when she could look back with pleasant memories upon her early married life, and girlhood days, and surrounded by her beloved children and devoted husband she could look forward to a life of joy and contentment, the Giver of life called her home to form another link in the golden chain that binds her loved ones to the land beyond. Emma Hardy, the daughter of Rev. and Mrs. J. R. Hardy, was born in Arkansas July 17, 1874. She was married to H. S. Keeling June 11, 1891. This model husband and three children - Roy, Homer, and Bertha - survive her to mourn her loss and await that happy reunion in the land where no parting ever comes. Sister Keeling, while in the quietness of her home, sought and found acceptance from our Risen Lord in the year 1892; immediately joined the Baptist Church, and has lived a consecrated and devoted Christian life worthy of the emulation of us all. Besides being a consistent church member, she was also a member in good standing of the K. and L. of H., and other organizations. Brother and Sister Keeling came to Texas, reaching Dallas in 1900, and since that time have continuously resided in the State. A father, four brothers, two of whom are here to attend the funeral services - Rev. G. B. Hardy, of Como, Texas, and R. L. Hardy, of Winnsboro - and two sisters still survive. Sister Keeling, surrounded by friends and loved ones, departed this life July 20, 1910. She died as she had lived, with all her hopes resting on Jesus and knowing that there awaited her a mansion over there. The funeral services were conducted at the Baptist Tabernacle at 3:00 p. m., July 21st, by Rev. T. C. Mahan, an old acquaintance and friend of the family, after which the remains were interred in the family burying ground at Kit. "Unwearied, unfettered, unwatched, unconfined, Be my spirit like thee in the world of the mind; No yearning for earth e'er to weary its flight, But fresh as thy pinions in the region of light." A FRIEND. .......................................................................... |
