Notes for Henry Harrison Hardy

Henry was born and raised in Southwestern Arkansas. He and his family were found in the 1910 and 1920 Census records for Arkansas, Hempstead County, Redland Township. He was a farmer and an oil field worker, and according to my father, served as a Justice of the Peace in Hempstead County, and also operated a store at one time. In the 1930 Census the family was found living in Ouachita county, Washington Township, and Henry's occupation was listed as "Laborer", in the "Crude Oil" industry. They probably lived in or near the town of Louann, since my father told of attending high school there. He moved his family to Gregg County, Texas around 1931 when the oil boom began there. They settled in the Spring Hill community near Longview, and in his later years, worked on an oil lease near his home.
