| James was raised in East Texas, and joined the Navy as a young man, served during WWII, and re-enlisted for a hitch during the Korean War. He married and settled in Shreveport, LA, where he worked for Atlas Processing Company for many years until retiring around 1986. ............................................................... Obituary for James L. Eley Shreveport Times James L. Eley SHREVEPORT – Graveside services for Mr. James L. Eley of Shreveport, will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday March 7 at Greenwood Cemetery in Shreveport. The Rev. Bill Stowell, pastor of Emanuel Baptist Church, will officiate. Visitation: 5 p.m. Friday until 1:30 p.m. Saturday at Wellman Funeral Home. Mr. Eley died Friday March 6, 1987, in Shreveport after a lengthy illness. He was retired from Atlas Processing Plant after 31 years and was a U.S. Navy veteran of World War II and the Korean Conflict. He is survived by his wife, Leneda Eley of Shreveport; one son, Bill Eley of Santa Fe, N.M.; several nieces, nephews and cousins.
